Kate is a mercenary whose job it is to clear up the mess that magic and monsters leave behind. The book is packed with action and she certainly has her work cut out for her!
At first there are many things left unexplained, and you have to be patient as the book slowly unravels the mysteries.
Kate is a lonely but tough, witty and diplomatic character, who finds herself becoming entangled with the arrogant Curran, king of beasts, who shapeshifts into a lion. Their banter has undertones of both violence and romance and I was left really hoping they would get together.
The mystery about the power of Kate's blood left me frustrated at times - I wanted to know exactly what her powers were and how she gained them, but all you are given is tantalising hints here and there.
All in all an enjoyable read.
